Get serenaded @ Suriname Jazz

Let me tell you something. There were two perfect things at the 2nd day of the Suriname Jazz Festival 2013.

Guests are enjoying the jazz outside Spice Quest: Jazz in the street.
1. The scene was a beautiful setting. Guests were welcomed by torches in front of the restaurant, where also a big screen and seats were waiting for those who wanted to enjoy the jazz in the street. Inside the candles and some more torches completed the look. You couldn't think otherwise than that it would become a romantic jazz evening.

2. That's exactly what happened. You see, Mr. Randy Corinthian and his sax...sigh...oh boy. When he started to serenade the woman in the public one by one with his song 'New Place' the mutual love for the night was complete. Randy was sweating it out..okay also because of all the lights on stage, but still, he worked so hard with his band. It was the perfect touch to the romantic jazz evening. And yes, I was also serenaded...double sigh...

Look at the happy faces of the ladies being serenaded by Randy.
The evening started with Haika, the jazz band of the very talented Suriname bass player Jason Eduard. You could see that the early guests of the evening really enjoyed his songs. Randy took over and with his pianist Patrick Ward and Surinamese drummer Prayanswer Rotgans (who is only 17 years of age) and bass player Glenn Texeira they rocked the stage. Yes rocked. It is the jazz music you do wanna hear at a jazz festival.

Pianist Denis Lapassion from French Guyana ended the Wine and Jazz event on the perfect note. The rhythm in the kaseko jazz was soulful. And for almost an hour they made sure we wouldn't forget their performance that easily.

The MC for the night Zabdai did a great job. And again our guests left the spot happy, promising to return tomorrow for part 3. Which will be a very long day. We start at noon with some workshops and lectures and start the performances @ 18.30.

But you know I'm still high of my serenade, so I will leave it at this for today and give you this news: tomorrow Randy is playing again. So if you want to get high...visit the Suriname Jazz Festival. You won't regret it.

I know I still don't.

Jazzy odi,
Roseternal
